The west half of the compass near the ridgelines above 8000 ft was thin/wind scoured with cornices and wind slabs formed on the east side of the ridgelines. One cornice had broken during Saturday's storm and deposited large chunks of debris onto the slope below, but it did not appear to step down to any lower layers in the snowpack
Comments
Large, thundering collapses observed on all aspects while traveling through lambs canyon and millcreek canyon on Sunday with my party. We did not observe any avalanches even when the snowpack collapsed while we walked the ridgeline above slopes over 30 degrees. The collapsing on the north half of the compass was expected based on current avalanche problems, but we were surprised to cause a couple of whoompf's even on low angle south facing terrain in millcreek canyon below the top of Head of Box/Murdock Peak.
