Comments
Walking the ridge of Rocky Point we triggered this slide. It broke on facets below the new storm snow above a crust about 4cm below the storm snow. It looked like it stepped down below the crust maybe 15 feet down the slide path. The slope was wind loaded with small cornices in parts of the start zone. It ran about 400 feet. It did not pull any other pockets that I could see. This avalanche ran into pre existing slide paths as well as some young trees. Not a good avalanche to get caught in.
We also noted long running sluff's and sensitive/naturally failing cornices.
SS-ASc-R2-D2-I NE Rocky Point @ 10,400' SZ=46 degrees about 2' down on old facets above crust; ~60' wide x 400' fall.
