Comments
I hiked and snowshoed taking conservative routes to Lake Blanche Saturday morning. The snow was somewhat heavy and in places definitely wind blasted. Once at Lake Blanche I observed what appeared to be a large natural avalanche below the Cottonwood ridge and south of Sundial Peak. The avalanche appeared large and impressive from my vantage point at Lake level.
I also observed significant amounts of snow being
moved on the upper Peaks producing wind loading. This will likely exacerbate the already high avalanche danger.
